Your data and how to delete it
Quill & Star has no accounts, so there’s no account to delete. This page explains what data the app keeps, how to delete what’s on your phone, how to stop anything more being sent, and how to ask us to delete the rest. It applies to the app on iPhone, iPad and Android.
The app is made by KHKikani, an independent developer in India. For the full picture, read the Privacy Policy.
In short
- What’s on your phone: delete the app, or clear its data. That removes your progress, settings and saved puzzles at once.
- Usage and crash reports: switch off Settings > Privacy > Share usage and crash reports. Nothing more is sent.
- Ads: use Privacy choices in Settings where the app shows it, keep tracking off on iPhone and iPad, and reset or delete your advertising ID on Android.
- Anything else: email harshitkikani9081@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my data”.
What lives on your phone, and how to delete it
The app saves these in its private storage on your phone. This data itself stays on your phone, although while sharing is on, usage statistics describe some of it, such as the reminder time you pick or your streak range:
- your settings, including the reminder time and your choice about usage sharing;
- your progress: puzzles solved, best times, daily results, streaks and streak freezes;
- unfinished puzzles saved for later;
- a few small notes, such as whether the how-to-play guide has been shown.
Your answers to Google’s consent form and the iPhone tracking prompt are kept on your phone too.
On iPhone or iPad: touch and hold the Quill & Star icon, tap Remove App, then Delete App.
On Android: open your phone’s Settings > Apps > Quill & Star > Storage, then tap Clear storage (the names vary a little by phone). To remove the app as well, tap Uninstall.
Either way, the data is gone from the app straight away, and it can’t be recovered by us. If your phone backs up apps to iCloud or Google, a copy may stay in that backup and come back when you reinstall; your phone’s backup settings let you remove it.
Deleting the app also cancels the daily reminder, because the reminder is scheduled on your phone.
Stop usage statistics and crash reports
Open Settings > Privacy in the app and switch off Share usage and crash reports.
- Usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase) stop at once.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) stop at once, and any reports still waiting on your phone are deleted.
- The app remembers your choice, and the game works exactly the same.
This switch doesn’t affect ads or the app’s remote settings, which are covered below. It also doesn’t stop the app checking with Google which privacy rules apply where you are, each time it starts and when you come back to it while ads aren’t running. That check sends your IP address, basic device and app details, and the privacy choices already stored on your phone, but no usage statistics and not your advertising ID; see “Checking which privacy rules apply” in the Privacy Policy.
Ads and your advertising ID
Ads come from Google AdMob, which collects device information to show and measure ads. Google controls that data under its own privacy policy. To limit it:
- Privacy choices. Where privacy laws call for it, such as in the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and certain US states, Settings shows Privacy choices. It opens Google’s form, where you can withdraw consent or opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for ads.
- iPhone and iPad. Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking and make sure Quill & Star is switched off. The app then can’t use your device’s advertising identifier.
- Android. Open your phone’s Settings > Privacy > Ads (the exact place varies by phone). Reset advertising ID gives you a new one that isn’t linked to the old; Delete advertising ID removes it, so apps receive only zeros.
- Google’s ad settings. Google’s ad settings let you turn off ad personalization. How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services explains more.
Data Google keeps for us
| Data | What it is | When it’s deleted |
|---|---|---|
| Usage statistics | Notes on how the game is played, tied to a random app-instance ID | Automatically, 14 months after it was collected |
| Crash reports | Technical reports about crashes and errors, tied to a random Crashlytics ID | Automatically, after 90 days |
| Firebase installation ID | A random ID the app uses to fetch its settings | When we ask Firebase to delete it; Google then removes it within 180 days |
| Website requests | Your IP address when you visit this website, kept by Firebase Hosting | Google keeps IP data for a few months |
None of this includes your name, email address or phone number.
Asking us to delete your data
Email harshitkikani9081@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my data”, or call +91 95122 03345. Tell us what you’d like deleted, and if you’ve written to us before, which email address you used.
What we can do:
- delete every email and message you’ve sent us, and our replies;
- tell you exactly what kinds of data the app sends and where.
What we can’t do, and why: the app has no accounts and never sends your name, email or phone number. Your usage statistics and crash reports are filed under random identifiers that the app doesn’t show you, so a message from you can’t be matched to them. That keeps your data from being linked to you, but it also means we can’t pick out and delete your records on request. What we can promise is that they expire on the schedule above, and that switching off sharing or deleting the app stops anything new from arriving. A fresh install starts with new identifiers that aren’t linked to the old ones.
For data Google collects for ads, use the ad controls above or contact Google, which controls that data.

The website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, ads or trackers, so there’s nothing on your device to delete. Google’s Firebase Hosting keeps IP data from visits for a few months to protect the site and count visitors.
